You know, for what Brawl has failed to deliver, the homebrew/hacking scene has made up for it: new costumes for the characters (RIP Syntax Error), new (and in my opinion better) physics and gameplay styles with large scale projects, and bringing the creation of stages well over its limits. Fanservice, casual play, competitive play, you name it.

For example have you tried this Brawl Stage Studio for Windows by Xane? It has all the functionality of the original Stage editor on the game plus the capabilities of hacked Brawl (putting objects on top of others, placing spawnpoints, limitless map pieces), plus an awesome interface.
